Here are my photos from start to finish.
For months I have been trying to get my airplane shine ON.
Here are the products I have used and the results.

When I bought Juliette it was love at first sight. When I went flying for the first time I knew it was true love.
I mean just look at her she is beautiful. But I like more beautiful, hey, I'm picky and I like pretty things to be as pretty
as they can be.
In this picture you can see where the cover has been on and protecting the old finish, and where the gloss has faded away.
Especially behind the back window.

When you love something like this the goal is to take care of it as much as you can.
I did what any pilot would do. I went to the Sportys website and bought poly glide polish.
for 30 bucks plus shipping.

I tediously cleaned and polished. The day I polished it looked good, not wonderful.
Most of Juliette was faded dull finish, and now they almost matched the area covered by the protective cover.
This was after 3 applications, since the first 2 were streaky and incomplete.
Polyglide directions, apply with spray bottle, wipe dry. this is of course after cleaning, after all Poly Glide is just a polish.
This was the view the day I polished Juliette, but the next day, refer to the top picture.
It was almost like I had never done anything.

So I went out and bought Turtle Wax Ice. Dood this HAD to be good.
WOW what a shine on the first day! I was totally impressed!

But the next day when it was completely dry it was streaky. SO, I put another coat on.
And a third. Every time, that day it looked like I was done cleaning and polishing.
Since this was also a polish, I had to clean then apply the polish.
To no avail....

Then a trip to the Simsbury fly in. I heard over the loud speaker "Head over to the Hot Body Wax tent, maybe they will wax your car as a demo!"
Of course anyone that knows me will tell you that I am completely introverted and never just aproach anyone, NOT! I went right over! "Hey you guys want to wax my AIRPLANE?!"
Being fully warned about the amount of surface area on an airplane, Dave Mazzarella said "sure!"
I taxied over and left the plane across from his tent for the day. I checked back often to watch almost a whole wing done and half the fuselage! OK, now I couldn't polish that much in an afternoon so I have to give him credit.
He started the plane at about 8:30, by 3:00 the cleaned and waxed area, since this wax is also a cleaner were still shiny. After all the work I put into it, using two other polishes, I was anxious the for next afternoon to come. Monday arrived, and you can see just what I saw. The finish on the right was what I had gone to the fly-in that day with. Believe me I was cheking it out in disgust before my wife and I went to the fly-in, the whole cowl with the Ice was not shiny at all, and after sitting for 4 days after I polished it, my work was once again, gone. If you own an airplane you know how much surface area there is, so watching your work go down the tubes is a real DRAG, parasite or not. That's not trees and a cloudy sky, thats a cloudy finish on the right and a real shine reflection of a clear sky on the left.

Finally something that works!

DO yourself a favor, learn from my trials and errors! Just get this, don't waste your elbows, this is much easier.

As I polish from day to day I will take pictures of the before and after. But note that the faded old finish has been cleaned and polished 6 times!
